Trial SSL Certificates allow you to test all types of SSL:

Single Domain SSL SINGLE DOMAIN SSL CERTIFICATE Secure a single Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) such as www.globalsign.com and activate the yellow padlock for visitors to your site. When customers enter https://www.yourdomain.com or you direct them to pages on your site starting with https://... the connection between their browser and your server is secure, protecting against any eavesdroppers and providing security for ecommerce transactions, logins, webmail and more.
Multi-Domain SSL MULTI-DOMAIN SSL CERTIFICATE For total flexibility, a GlobalSign Multi-Domain SSL Certificate adds additional Subject Alternative Names (SANs) to your Certificate, making it ideal for Unified Communications applications or complex server configurations. For Trial SSL Certificates, only internal hostnames may be added as additional SANs, however the full product allows any combination of up to 40 different domain names, subdomains, IP address or hostnames in a single easy to manage SSL Certificate.
Wildcard SSL WILDCARD SSL CERTIFICATE Secure an unlimited number of subdomains on your domain name with a single SSL Certificate. Wildcard SSL Certificates are issued to *.yourdomain.com instead of a Fully Qualified Domain Name like www.yourdomain.com. The * character allows the Certificate to be used on any subdomain, without limitations. Wildcard SSL helps future proof the addition of further secure subdomains and ease SSL management and IP address management.

Applying for your Free SSL

    Choose DomainSSL / OrganizationSSL WHICH CERTIFICATE IS RIGHT FOR YOU? Trial Certificates are available in two types – DomainSSL and OrganizationSSL.

    DomainSSL Trial is valid for 45 days and is issued using the real and trusted GlobalSign root - this means that your Certificate will be recognised transparently by all popular browsers, mobile devices and applications. Choose this option if you wish to trial your SSL in real environments, or if you plan on testing the compatibility of GlobalSign SSL.

    OrganizationSSL Trial is valid for 30 days and issued using a TEST (untrusted) GlobalSign root - this means that your Certificate will be not be recognised by any browsers, mobile devices or applications. As this is a true test Certificate, choose this option if you wish to test SSL in your staging or test environments. Also choose this option if you wish to test the Certificate profile (for example the DN information order or key usages) against your applications. For browser/device compatibility testing, choose DomainSSL.
    Create a Certificate Signing Request CREATE CERTIFICATE SIGNING REQUEST The Certificate Signing Request (CSR) is a file created on your server containing information about the domain you wish to secure, and for Organisation vetted Certificates, information about your organisation (such as company name and country). It is your CSR that we cryptographically turn into your issued SSL Certificate. Creating a CSR can sometimes be time-consuming and complex, which is why we have created AutoCSR – a free option that creates the CSR on your behalf. AutoCSR is only available for non-Trial SSL Certificates.

    Get CSR generation instructions for your Server
    Complete the online application page APPLYING FOR YOUR TRIAL SSL CERTIFICATE Just fill in the online application form, including pasting your CSR contents where prompted and submit. Make sure you are accurate with your domain name, Wildcard SSL and SANs requirements.

    For DomainSSL applications we will send an automated Approver Email to the WHOIS contact or an email address owned by the domain, such as admin@yourdomain.com. This is to prove applicants have the control / ownership of a domain.

    For OrganizationSSL applications, we do not need to prove domain ownership or company existence because the trial is issued from an untrusted Root Certificate.
    Receive your SSL Certificate in minutes RECEIVING YOUR TRIAL SSL CERTIFICATE When issued, your Trial SSL Certificate will automatically be sent to the email address provided during application. If you think there is a delay in receiving the email, please check your spam filters. Contact technical support if you still have any issues.
